A Big Step for a Small Blog…

Today I’m sharing a big announcement that I’m really excited about!  It might seem small to some people, but this is kind of a huge leap of faith for me – just like starting this blog was.

Almost two years ago, I started writing about my experiences as a late-diagnosed autistic adult in the hopes that I could help people understand what it is to be autistic, offer my own insights into living independently as an autistic adult, and prevent other autistic kids from growing up thinking they were broken.  I wasn’t sure anyone would pay attention, but I hoped.  Slowly, I began hearing from my readers that I was helping them understand themselves and their families.  One reader went so far as to say that things I wrote had changed their life and their children’s lives (yes, I’m crying and I will cry every time I think about that).

I’m very humbled and grateful to everybody.  In the last few months, Autistic Empath has grown by leaps and bounds, and I have all of y’all to thank for that.  Your comments, shares, and responses have made huge strides in helping me get my message out there and I am beyond thrilled.  It’s given me the confidence to start working on a book as well as focus more on speaking engagements.

Now there are more ways you can support Autistic Empath!  I’ve launched a Patreon, where you can sign up to receive my Patron-only newsletter, join my Discord server, and vote in polls to help me choose topics to cover here on the blog.  You can also get access to monthly Q&A events with me and early drafts of chapters of the book as I get them written.

If a Patreon subscription is out of reach for you – things are hard for everybody right now, I know – but you’d still like to support the blog, you can make a one-time donation at Ko-Fi.  So far, I don’t have any rewards set up over there because I don’t know what people might like, so if you have ideas, please let me know!

And if you’re not looking to support the blog that way, that’s ok, too!  Please remember that you’re supporting Autistic Empath just by reading, commenting, and sharing, and I love you all for that!  Your word of mouth is an endorsement money can’t buy and I appreciate every one of you.

So that’s the update.  I’ve got plenty more posts and some product reviews coming up on my usual publishing schedule.  Thanks to everyone and have a great weekend!
